BOOTCAMP: GROUP HIIT WORKOUTS

8th Day Gym BootCamp workout are a type of HIIT training – bursts of intense activity alternating with intervals of lighter activity. Each class is led start to finish (an hour) by a skilled and knowledgeable coach. You can expect to do movements such as pushups, lunges, crunches, and wall balls, as well as using dumbbells, jump ropes, med balls, rowers, and stationary bikes. It’s similar in structure to our CrossFit class minus most of the skill movements and barbell lifting.

At 8th Day Gym, we pride ourselves on providing nothing but the best, and it shines through 8th Day BootCamp. We start with a mission: To help ANYONE from ANY FITNESS LEVEL reach their goals, and we accommodate everyone through the use of scalability.

Scalability is a set of small potential tweaks that allow a more advanced athlete and true beginner to do the same workout, while BOTH feeling challenged. Kinda like choosing a setting: beginner, intermediate, advanced. A trained coach will help YOU decide where YOU feel comfortable. We tailor the workout, because we want you to succeed…and you will! FAQ’s

  • What is a boot camp workout?

    Boot camp workouts are high-intensity fitness sessions that combine strength training, cardio, and functional movement. They’re designed to push you out of your comfort zone and help you burn fat, build muscle, and improve endurance-all in a group setting with a motivating coach.

  • Do I need to be in shape to join?

    Not at all. Boot camp is for every fitness level. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned athlete, our coaches provide modifications and progressions so you can train at your own pace while still being challenged.

  • What should I bring to my first class?

    Just bring:

    • A water bottle
    • A towel (optional)
    • Athletic shoes
    • Comfortable workout clothes

    We provide all the equipment you’ll need. Just show up ready to move and have fun. 

  • How long is each boot camp session?

    Our boot camp sessions are 60 minutes long. They include a warm-up, main workout, cool-down, and stretching.

  • How many times a week should I attend?

    We recommend 3 to 5 times per week for best results, depending on your goals and schedule. Consistency is key, and we’ll help you find a routine that works for you.

  • What makes your boot camp different from a regular gym workout?

    We offer a structured, coach-led experience in a team environment. Unlike solo gym sessions, boot camp gives you:

    • Built-in accountability
    • Professional coaching
    • Constant variety (no two workouts are the same!)
    • A community that keeps you motivated 
  • Is this like a military boot camp?

    While the name was inspired by military-style workouts, our approach is supportive, not intimidating. We challenge you, but we never yell or shame. It’s tough love-with more emphasis on the love. 

  • Will boot camp help me lose weight?

    Absolutely-when paired with proper nutrition. Our high-intensity workouts torch calories and build lean muscle, which increases your metabolism. We also offer nutrition coaching to support your goals.

  • Can I try a class before signing up?

    Yes! We offer a free week so you can experience the vibe, meet our coaches, and see if it’s the right fit for you.

  • What kind of people join your boot camps?

    All kinds! Our members include working professionals, parents, students, retirees-you name it. Young and old.  If you’re ready to work hard and have fun, you’ll fit right in.

  • What if I have an injury or medical condition?

    We’ll work with you. Our coaches are trained to modify exercises for common injuries and limitations. Be sure to let us know before class so we can keep you safe and supported.

8th Day Gym is conveniently located in downtown Grand Rapids near Founder’s Brewery. We’re across from the new Acrisure Amphitheater and next door to The Intersection Lounge. Our central location offers a quick travel time to and from the gym. Check out our unique facility: We use a mix of gym spaces, with an indoor/outdoor class setup.
